Miss Brill

Characteristics From Miss Brill

Katherine Mansfield’s short short story “Miss Brill” is very interesting and clearly displays the charateristics of Miss Brill.
The characterization of Miss Brill though the descriptive language and dialogue “Miss Brill touched her fur. Dear little thing! It was nice to feel it again” though represents her eccentric personality.
Miss Brill is optimistic which is shown in “On her way home she usually bought a slice of honey cake at the baker’s.”
The attitude of Miss Brill represented in “She had become really quite expert, she thought, at listening as though she didn’t listen, at sitting in other people’s lives just for a minute while they talked round her” displays she is eaves dropping.

At the end of the story “But when he put the lid on she thought she heard something crying.” Miss Brill is shown as being fragile.
